Me and my nephew happened to have the same days off so off we went to Casitas.
Boat rental guy says hit the rocky points off the main island. We pulled 9 largies off those points. Bass were eating the robos in natural colors and white swimjigs with a smoke flake grub trailer. Fuck it felt good to be at the lake again.
Yes the water is low but it still looks great. There is now a land bridge from the area near the coyote ramp where that fishing dock use to be. Anyway, apparently you could walk to the main island. You can not circle the island anymore.
Bass are healthy, rainy day, fishing with my nephew is always a great time.
In a couple of the pics you can see the land bridge.

The site is not letting me upload pics.....Wheres HORVATH!

Nice you got out on the local pond before it completely dries up.
Amazing how fast the plants are growing in the lakes place.
Ouch=35 days, I thought it was two weeks. I guess thats the minimum and 35 days is if they suspect growth ?

    35 days

Nope. Called and checked after this post...wanted to get back on Casitas, but the quarantine is 35 days, no matter what. I thought the same thing, 10 days to 2 weeks. Miss fishing Casitas.

    Serve bud light...they will come.
I've never heard of it being so low u can walk to the island.
Me and my dad used to fish there alot, and we'd see deer swimming across to the island.

Here's the inspection process for Lake Casitas....

    1. Call and leave a message for the rangers to call you back. They will return your call in 2-3 weeks and schedule a time to bring your boat for inspection. Inspections only happen on weekends by the way.

    2. If you pass inspection, you have to buy a $50 lock and cable for your boat and trailer. They lock it up, and in 35 days you can come launch.

ITS BRUTAL! They even blow compressed air in all the lines and lower your motor to make sure not a single drop of water comes out anywhere.

My bass boat passed and I'll be able to launch after March 21st. I hope this is all worth it.

Launching is $23-$28 per day depending on the time of year for boat and trailer.

nice! They are sitting on those rocky points in front of the flats eating before they move up to spawn. This weather and the messed up tides are making fishing in the delta good only during windows. You'll pop 7 in a row, then NADA for 5 hours.... Especially when the tankers come in and suck the water out of the sloughs....

Guess its worth it when that is the only good place to bass fish around there now a days! My buddies dad ran the freeman dam diversion off 118... there was a 40 acre lake and channels that were infested with bass! Most of my bass fishing came from there. Wish I was as successful bass fishing then as I am now because It would be ridiculous going there now. It's like shooting fish in a barrel
