As promised, since there is now a castaic board, im putting up a report! Lol I got the boat wet today for the first time in months. I couldn't find a partner so it was a solo mission to the upper lake this afternoon. It was nice conditions with minimal wind when I started, but I only managed to get in 2 hours of fishng before the wind picked up and blew me out. Today the fish arm was closed because they were filming a Dos Equis commercial with the most interesting man in the world in a sea plane. I pounded away on the ski side with various plastics and some big baits. After moving around a bit, the wind picked up and I got bit on a Texas rigged plastic, but missed the bite. Since it was my first sign of life, I decided to stay on the point and fight the wind to see if more bass were home. Sure enough, I hooked up to a chunky little LMB that scaled out at just under 3 pounds. After that fish I decided to take off as the winds were blowing in the direction of the ramo, which makes putting the boat on the trailer a big risk. Sure enough, the ramp was being pounded, but thankfully the boat rental guy helped me tie off my boat. I was able to get back on the trailer without any damage or swells over the stern. All in all it was a good day, and I was stoked to get back out after a long hiatus. I'm looking forward to fishing a lot more this year.
Thanks for the report. I remember those winds from my mountain bike racing days there in the 90's. They can be brutal...
Thanks for posting a report up Steve. Not a bad day out there, got the boat wet, got tagged and didn't take the skunk. Time to fish the lagoon!
Homie stevie, great to see your on the water again. If you ever can get on the water during the week and need a partner give me some advance notice and ill drive up there.
"I didin't care much for the post." LOL Thanks BOTHERING to post and report. And me too, I'm often available for mid week . . . . .
I work a 3 on 3 off schedule so hopefully youll catch me on a off day. But them ill have to find someone to pick up the kids from school. We'll make it happen somehow :cool2:
Gosh, sorry. I was trying to say that I didn't understand Vdiggy's post. And then I mis-keyed and left out the word "for" that should have gone in front of "bothering." That is, what I was trying to say was "thank you for going to the trouble of posting." Lastly, I'm 15 minutes from Castaic and self employed so I was trying to say that I can re-arrange my work and be available to fish on week days.
http://www.getbentsportfishing.com/forum/introductions/121686-newbie.html As for my screen name, back in the 70s and 80s guys roadraced motorcycles on the "backside" of Los Angeles' Griffith Park. Sometimes we fell down and slid down the road. So . . . . my screen name is xbacksideslider. My avatar is the lapel button we had that was a map of the road, Mount Hollywood Drive, that we raced on. I still ride motorcycles, dirt, street, and track.
Ahhh, makes sense now. I wasnt sure what you meant. Vdiggy and I go back about 15 years from our street racing days. We knew each other from a racing shop in your town of sylmar (HiSpeed on Hubbard near san fernando). It was a pleasant surprise to find him on get bent years later. If I ever have an empty seat I'll send you a PM.
