    Hey guys,

Going charter fishing march 19th out of MDR (12-5pm). This is my first time and im not sure what kind of gear to use (hooks, weight, line, rigs, etc). Ive looked on their website to see what being used, but no luck. Does anyone have any hints or in site? ?? I think they will be using squid and live minos.

    Thanks

First you need to know what they will be targeting. If they are heading to Catalina for some yellows you will need heavier stuff. If just bottom fishing (most likely this time of year) you will need a few packets of hooks from #2 to 2/0 or 3/0 (your call) weights from 8oz to 12 or 16oz depending on how deep they will be fishing.

Double dropper loop works fine with weight on the bottom of the line. Just drop to the bottom and reel up a few cranks....then bounce it off the bottom.

If they are hitting yellows call them a few days before you go an see what they have been using. That way you don't spend a ton of cash on stuff that hasn't been working.
