fish identification? anyone know wtf this is?

    Was fishing in newport harbor when this came floating along.. does anyone know what it is?

    around our house that is know"n as a mother-in-law looking fish...

    They are cool fish, one of the few deep water fish that come up shallow frequently. The weird lines on the body are actually photophores, they can light up.

    I think we need an ichthyologist for that one. Looks like a tadpole with sequins on the bottom. Tadpolis Sequino

    yeah it was kinda cool. all lit up on the bottom. weird looking slimy tadpole thing but kinda cool. it was floating on the surface. didnt even have to hook it.
