Hey guys i'm writing an article about recreational fishing in the U.S. and i'm interested to get the consensus opinion on a couple matters.

FIRST: What are the 5 most common recreational fishing techniques? (Fly fishing? Trolling? Bait Casting? what others?) Please rank them from most to least common.

SECOND: What conditions have the most effect on a day of fishing? (Time of day? Rain or no rain? Wind? Sun? Water Temp?)

Thanks for any input you can give me to help make this article great!

Next time you see me on the water you can ask me those questions again. I have no doubt that if anybody answers these questions they will be used against us.

To OP please let me take a second to give you some back ground. From time to time people interested in closing fishing to us come in here and pose as an innocent student trying to get info like you are doing. I am not saying you are one of these people but because of the way it started, the red flag warnings are going off like fireworks on the 4th.

To answer your first question in all honesty, there is no way to tell. Might as well ask what the test truck is. 5 people will most likely give you 5 different answers. I would say there are less fly fisherman then others. Past that, it is 6 one way half dozen the other.

#2, water movement. Current in the ocean is what turns on the feeding response more then anything. In freshwater any number of things but water temp plays a huge part because like us, we don't eat as much when it is hotter fish lay off somewhere for the cooler temps. Unless it is winter obviously.

Yes, it's true i'm not writing an article. Im building a mobile application for fishermen to share information with each other and i'm trying to nail down the functionalities. No malice intended ;) but I would greatly appreciate your opinion.

Ya connectivity will be your second greatest challenge, getting fisherman to spill the beans as to the specifics of their fishing techniques, that will be the big hurtle.

Then there is the whole, giving up info to help someone make money for free thing that some are going to REALLY not like. Good luck.

    First post....LIE

Second post... Picking up the pieces of said lie.

Making a fishing related app????? Has anyone used those?

I checked a couple out and to tell the truth, there is little to no useful information within them. Why? Because people dont want to give up valuable information learned over the years of hard work learning what is what.

NOT to mention the fact that if you are creating an "app" I would think you would have at least some sort of fishing background. Why else do it? We as fishermen dont need an app to tell us how to do what we do. We dont need an app to tell us where to do what we do. NOPE....we have Unbelievable connections in unbelievable places like the best damn fishing site bar none GETBENT SPORTFISHING which I must add to which was created by a hard core fisherman and a friend to us all.

So no fishing student....this "app" would be futile at best.

Sorry man....just being a realist in this respect.

    Good luck with that "app"
