Fishing opportunities are getting further apart but we managed to get out for some shallow water rock fishing between the big swell events a couple weeks ago. Fished out of Port San Luis with lead head/scampi tipped with squid in 50-90 ft of water. The fishing for rock fish was slow but over a few hours we were able find our limits of ling cod and three nice reds. The lings were not very large but lots of fun and tasty. Happy holidays to all!
Those are some nice reds! I'm also trying to make one last trip for some rockfish! Hopefully we get an other window to get out before the new year!!
Dang! Those are some jumbo reds! I wanted to get out one more time before the season ends but this wind has been relentless.
Nice - we keep waiting for a clear window but its not looking good, the Santa Cruz harbor mouth is shoaled and people are surfing across it (keep dredging)
