    Hello,
I will be Surf fishing off the beaches of captiva island florida, Gulf ccoast, at the end of April and i would appreciate any advice on techniques and bait/lures to use. I have had descent success in the past 3 or 4 years using Johnsons silver minnows and zoom super flukes in the color of white ice casting about 20 to 30 yards off shore. I have caught sea trout, small jacks, mackerel, ladyfish, and blues mainly. Would like to score a nice snook if anyone has any info on best techniques, time of day, tide condition, and presentation. Overall, just looking to catch anything that will put up a fight, mainly with artificial lures.

Thanks in advance for your time and input,
    Mike

Wish I could help ya but I know nothing about fishing on that end of the US.

Majority of members here are located on the west coast it seems...

Try the Berkley Gulp Shrimp or Mullets/Minnows if you've ever used D.O.A. plastics I had success with them in Florida but now Gulp has come out and they're scented...makes a big difference over here! Good Luck I hope I gave you some good advice.

For Captiva try DOA Shrimp 1/2 oz in the surf. Alternate between rootbeer with gold glitter and the glow one is real good also. For jerkbaits try pearl colour. I like Exudes but any will work well. Yo-Zuri Crystal Minnow 5/8 to 1 oz floating are also good choices. But for snook you will have best luck with the DOA and jerkbaits. The Yo-ZUri will bring alot more blues and spanish in. The Gulp product is very good, try the new penny shrimp on a 1/4 jig, but I have not had that much luck in the surf for shrimp with it.

    Hope this helps.

Use 10 pound test and Banjo minnows. If that doesn't work, use 6 pound test. MONO.
I slayed the snook down there with Banjo's.
How's the fishing been in Little Bay Du Noc this season?
