Well the only info I have is that I don't believe they really run. I have tried on several occasions to see them and every time from La Conchita to Zuma the most I have ever seen is about 15 fish. Like WSB you have to be in the right place at the right time. I have even moved to several beaches over consecutive nights for nada.

I REALLY hope someone has some trick to finding the horny little fish that I haven't found.

    grunion run

Pismo, nippomo, a little far but they're there. Bolsa Chica in Huntington Beach can produce. When we were kids in Seal Beach in the early sixties we'd surf at night under the lights of the pier and have the grunion all around us, then have a grunion fight, nothing like going home with grunion guts all over you, but we were kids and stupid. If you find one of those dark lonely beachs where they running beaware if your waist deep in the water that there's other things showing up to catch them also but they're showing up from the water side.

A better place locally would be some of the beaches in Malibu. Don't forget that grunion run at high tide so don't pick a small beach that disappears at high tide.

Check the DFG web page also. I am not sure, but I think that the season is closed right now.

Every year in ealry-mid june some tourist brings me a bag of dead grunions and is like " I got you some bait for sharks." Always little sandy guys from the beach. When I start to see em' I'll Post a thread.

Ive been going out pretty much every night they run and I haven't seen a single damn fish. But then again surf fishing seems to turn up empty also.
