I made a late run out of channel islands on Fri afternoon and got in the area I wanted to fish around 5pm, metered around for an hour or so and dropped the hook on a nice mark of squid.By this time its blowing 18 knts and gusting to 25knts.The bruce anchor was stuck good and I started jigging squid.I would put out a rod as I would catch a squid,I had 3 rods out .Small white iron with a squid pinned on and 2 droppers allon 40lb flouro.About 10 mins in one of the droppers goes off ,I'm thinking seabass when a 60lb Mola comes up ,WTF.I get that fish cleared and the rod down.
I went back to making squid when the iron starts screaming. The fish takes off up around the bow,as I'm heading up the side of the boat trying not to fall in the water rod number 2 goes off and starts around the bow as well. Now I have a fish heading out to port and anouter one right on its heals. The second fis is heading around the boat while the one I'm fighting is heading straight off the bow when the line of fish number 2 is around my neck.I pull the line over my head and let it go against the wind shield.

Luckely the first fish turns and comes down the starboard side where I put it in a holder and grab number 2 and bring it around the bow and get it in a holder on the port side.As I put that rod in the holder rod number3 goes off and I have a triple going in pretty rough seas.I go back to fish number 1 and get it landed while the other 2 fish are peeling line off on the port side.Fish number 1 was a nice 45lber.
I fight number 2 in and get the fish released quickly , it swam away strong.I get number 3 in and released ,it swims away strong as well. What a fire drill , and I got the whole ordeal on the helmet cam gopro.Insane way to start the seabass season.Ill get the video up in a couple days.

Randy was hot on my heals but got in a little to late.I jumped on his boat and we floated a little squid and cocktails. The next morning I woke up to his clicker screaming and him gaffing a nice 50lber.
A little after that Outer Banks pulls up and asked if I was fighting a fish on the bow at 7pm the night before because he saw me through the binos from the hwy almost fall in the water.Hard to hide anymore.LOL

You almost got DECAPITATED!! That's hardcore. Sitting on the edge of my seat reading and thinking about 40-50 lb fluoro around the neck with a big CBass on the other end...that's scary! Glad you "kept your head"(lol) and manged to deal with all 3.

Great story, fun read. Awesome FISH!
