La Paz Flight Change

Not a big deal but I just got an e-mail from Alaska Airlines and our flight has changed a little;

09/12/07 Leaves LAX @ 11:55 AM ( instead of 11:20 AM)
Arrives La Paz @ 3:08 PM ( Instead of 2:35 PM)

09/19/07 Leaves La Paz @ 4:05 PM (instead of 3:55 PM)
Arrives LAX @ 5:30 PM (instead of 4:55 PM).

I haven't looked on Alaska Air's website but what are the luggage restrictions. I know last year there was all kinds of confusion ( at least on my part) about what you can carry on. Can your reels be spooled if you carry them on? Does your rod tube count as one piece of checked baggage? Any of you veteranos want to pipe in?

HI Joey,

I've flown with 8ft rods in the past but not recently into Mexico.

7 ft rods have always seemed plenty long for fishing from pangas to me, so I leave the long rods at home.

They changed our flight from Boston to L.A. and L.A. to Cabo as well, except all of our flights are 30 minutes earlier.

So what if I don't own any 7 foot rods? Do I need to go have some made or will they let me slide?

8 foot rods will catch fish the same as 7ft rods. Use what you got. All I meant was that the long rods are bit more cumbersome to travel with and the extra length does not seem necessary when panga fishing in my opinion.

You can double check with Alaska Airlines to make sure your 8ft rod tube is OK just to be safe, but I've flown with a 9ft tube a few years back.

cheers,
-todd

ICEE,

I like the way you think!

8ft for the sport boats and 7 ft for travel. I hope the wife doesn't see this!
