La Paz trip - extra fees rod tubes?

Looks like its an additional $75 to bring a rod tube over 6.75 feet long?

There's no fee if the rod tube is part of your free check in baggage (2 bags).
You can have a free rod tube as a 3rd check in, if it's under 62" and only has one or two rods in it.

Alaska...

Hey Guys,
Thought I would chime in. Here is what AK air has to say... We have not had any problems with any of the bazuka's or home made (pvc type) cases. Typicallay sticks/cases that are coming down are seven feet and under. They obviously got wise to Jonathan taping two and three full ones together though.....
See you in just a few weeks!!!
