Cabo Report
Went out to the Pacific yesterday into the windy, cold, crappy water that is still hanging around on that side of the cape. When I say cold water I'm talking about 74-75 degrees compared to the 83-85 degree water that starts around Punta Ballena and goes up into the gulf.
So to make this long story as short as possible, we ran up into the chop and wind for about an hour then put the lures out. No bites for the first 45 mins as I'm working my way toward the beach. Then, I see a tailer, setup on him pitch a bait from the bow, no bite. Start moving again there's another, same deal. Pitch, no bite. This goes on for abouty an hour then we get one to bite......FRESH ONE!!!!!!!!! Marlin going nuts as we clear the gear and start to work on the fish. After we release the first one, the rest of the day was spent running and pitching on tailers. Lots of them. We brought 35 baits with us and by 2 p.m. they were gone. I went looking for some bait to catch so we could catch a few more Marlin. As I got to the bait grounds, there were more and more Marlin starting to show, tailers, feeders, jumpers, sleepers......WOW!!!!!! The bait was hard to catch but we did get a few peices and used one for our last fish of the day. We ended up with 8 Marlin(out of 12 hook ups)and 1 Sailfish that was hanging with a group of tailers.
Another great day of fishing.
