We are going to be cutting it close. This was just posted on the Alaska Air website:
Los Cabos and La Paz Weather Advisory

Ticketed passengers affected by Hurricane Henriette and scheduled for travel to Los Cabos and La Paz through September 8, 2007, will be allowed the following changes to assist in their travel needs. These apply to both revenue and Mileage Plan Award tickets.
If new/rescheduled travel is on/before September 10, 2007, then the following exceptions apply: - Change fees and applicable changes in fare and taxes will be waived
- If an Alaska Airlines Vacation package is involved, please contact the Vacations Desk at 1-800-468-2248 for handling
If new/rescheduled travel is on/after September 11, 2007, then change fees, and applicable changes in fare and taxes apply to the new travel dates.

OK,
If I'm reading the Alaska Airlines baggage policies correctly, we're allowed 2 checks bags (up to 50#'s each) plus 1 rod tube. Does this sound right?
If so, I just weighed my bags and I'm well within the weight limit.

Hey Roomie,
I'm bringing a 52 qt Coleman Extreme which is 61 " total measurement, so no extra charge as long as it is under 50 lb. Gonna fill it with gatorade and water and snacks until it is about 45 Lbs. Remember the measurements are total sum of size, ie, length + width + height. The Coleman Extreme comes out at 61" which is the max size before additional charges. Got it at Sears for 29.99 today.
As far as tackle boxes just 2 plano boxes and a Feather bag and Im good to go. Using a backpack to carry them on the Pangas.
BTW Boat 5 is gonna kick some serious A**. See ya at the airport Drew. Lookin forward to kick some serious fishes arses!

Ok talked to Alaska today and the rod tubes are going to cost extra. They only allow up to 63 inches in length after that it is extra and there might even be an extra bag price of 25 bucks but that is up to the person that checks things in. I ain't tripin but I am not happy.

Extra Fees
I spoke to a big shot at Alaska Air, and he told me that they don't usually charge anglers on their rod tubes as long as it's part of the two pieces of free luggage allowed, and it's under 115 inches.
He also said if there is a fee, it's for each way, not round trip.
I tried to get him to send me an email stating that I wouldn't be charged, but he wouldn't do it.
He couldn't guarantee that I wouldn't be charged. Everything he said was a maybe, or a usually. I couldn't pin him down.
I've made over 30 of these type of trips, and never got charged.
Times are changing.
So, depending on what kind of mood the ticket people are in, looks like I "may" pay $150 to fish with my favorite fish slayin' rod.
