A whole different style of fishing today. Instead of the long drive out to Las Arenas, we shoved off right off the beach in front of Los Arcos Hotel .
My photos are limited mainly because everyone spread out. Went kind of their own way. Some went chasing dorado. A lot went off to hunt marlin. Others like John Alperin and Lee Cook went straight for the rocks and islands to hunt whatever would fall to some light line and a well-presented hook.
Once again, a few tuna were hung, but the majority of today's fish were dorado ranging from 5-25 pounds The dorado were welcome as a lot of the guys were tired from as many as 3 previous days of hanging tuna over at Las Arenas. Some of the boats didn't do as well as others simply because they opted to swing for the fences and try to put on a billfish.
Four boats hooked stripers. Joe Pineapple's striper took the 3rd day jackpot breaking Flipper's string of victories. A few other boats had fish on for a bit then lst them Others had fish come up and slap the lure but didn't get the hookset. Kudos to Drew and Kelly for releasing their fish.
The rest did a bit of dorado. The other white meat! Fish were 2-6 dorado per boat.
I think the highlight of the day was that a good number of the boats never came back! In fact, they found the bar and restaurants at Tecolote Beach and told their captains to pull over. Party on! They ended up just hanging to there with my captains and boats celebrating Mexican Independence Day.
Day 4 coming up. Some guys have already booked the optional day 5.
That's my story!
