Congrats brother you should have a blast down there. This last summer I headed down with the group and all I used was 25# on a matching rod with 1 to 2/0 hooks and about 5 rubber core weights. I would bring some trolling lures in mexican flag and pinks/reds seemed to work best. You will need bigger stuff if you plan on going after the bill fish others can let ya know what.

Thanks for the input Drew! Did you try fishing w/ any surface or heavy irons? Do any bottom fishing while you where there?

You can bring a pluther of gear with you #10 lb. test to the heavy big stuff it's all how much fun you want to have! Moogie and Phestarus last trip brought light tackle out and slayed the fish...............bring lots of hooks, a glass for the Margarita's, and whatever fishing rod suits you............it's all NO STRESS! If you look on our past archives from Get Bent Gone Wild trips you'll see what kind of gear everybody brought!

You'll enjoy the fishing in La Paz.
Pineapple was right. Surf this site and you'll see it's a wealth of information.

Ya, me and Phistaris bottom fished for a day last September. #20 did the trick with a flouro leader.
We used Spro jigs tipped with soft plastics or Bonito strips. Nothing too heavy. 2 1/2 ounce max. We bait fished as well. The action was always present. So were the rocks.
We also fished along the beaches for a day with #6 and #10. We slayed them with Bass Assassins and Banjo Minnows.

What we did is not an indication of what most of the guys were doing. The remaining three days we fished, were primarily with live bait. It seemed to work the best for the Tuna and Bonito and billfish.
Lot's of baitfishing down there.

We're headin' back down in 20 days. From the looks of things, I may have to bring out the big tackle this time.
Good luck,
Moog
