Well Boyz and girls, we had an unbelievable time during our time in La Paz!
Me and my good friend from British Columbia, Keith, left Sunday for a one night stay at the Radisson Hotel at LAX. They include parking for a week at the hotel if you pay for one night.
Got up early Monday morning for the shuttle ride to the airport, and blaze thru TSA to get to the gate early. Flight down no problem and no charge for my rod case, which had 8 rods, two of which were 7 footers. Michael and the boys arrived the day before and we were ready for some fish. Jonathan told us that the fishing had been good, but when we arrived south of Las Arenas the wind was up. First day of saltwater fishing for my friend Keith proved very good, with the Captain me and Drew fished with in September. The first day we fished basically the same place we fished in September for the Yellowfin, and we got some real nice Cabrillo. Day two, we got bait and Muncho asked what we wanted to fish for. He mentioned Dodo, but we hadn't seen any. I said lets go over to Cerallvo and he agreed. We got over there and caught 2 nice Boneheads, and once again Muncho said Dorado? So this time I said OK. The best choice I ever made. We went to the 88's offshore and we nailed the Dorado. All by ourselves out there fishing the shark nets. Banged the nice (30-35lbers) and also 3 Striped Marlin between me and Keith. Keiths was estimated at 250 plus by the Captain. That thing was a pig. Both me and Keith were hooked up at the same time!!!!. Anyways we gotta get some dinner right now so I will finish this report later. But here are the pics in no particular order.
O.K. Here's the story and I am stickin to it. (sorry Jonathan I had to use that line!)
The fishing was insane! Moogie, Lee, and his son Danny, Jared (sp), Billy, Mike, Keith and myself had the times of our lives! The everpresent Jonathan and Jill set us up right. Bayview rooms and the same Pangueros we fished with last September. The first days weather was overcast but still warm. Most of the group fished around Cerallvo after making bait close to the launch area. Everyone had a great first day even though the wind was up a little. The drive down wasn't bad as they have paved the road all the way except for the last few clicks. The driver that picked me and Keith up at the airport stopped at the Super Mercado so we could get our water, beer and other booze on the way to the hotel, as we were fishing the next morning. Got the rods set up and off to Rancho Viejo for dinner and found they have finished the Hacienda next door. Its sweet and serve there as well, just a little classier seating. Michael (Moogie) and the rest from Boston got in the day before, so they were ready for battle. Jonathan let us know we were leaving at 5:00 AM for Muertos. Got up and a couple of the boys from Boston were a little late....

.... So off we go. Get to the launch site south of Las Arenas and meet up with the Pangueros. I was so glad Jonathan hooked us up with the same guys as last year. Mine and Keith's Panguero, would be Muncho(mooncho) who was the same guy Drew and myself fished with last year, and he got a new Panga over the winter, so me and Keith had a sweet ride! Bought bait for 20.00 USD and fished over by the area we fished last year for the YFT. Caught some real nice Cabrillas, fished up and down the coast there for more species and called it a day. Great way to start the trip, but I did not get my first Rooster.

Got back to the hotel Los Arcos and traded battle stories with the boyz. Day 2, still a little windy and after the trip to Cerallvo Keith Munch and me made the run outside. All or nothing I told Keith, and it was all!

Dodo galore, 3 stripers, and after that fished hard for the Pargo inshore. Hot as heck and the sun was burnin the skin off of us. A great day for me and Keith with 2 big Bonies, 4 Dodo and 3 Striped Marlin, one of which tried to get into the Panga on the Strike! All the Bills were released unharmed, to fight another day, the Dodos gave up valiantly and were bagged and tagged

. When I hooked Marlin #2 Keith was getting photos of me hooked up and I looked back and Muncho was hooking up another for Keith. WOW both of us hooked up on stripers at the same time! Killer day 2.
Day 3 saw Keith get a nice 35 lb. Dodo and I added to the species list, which ended at 11 for me and 10 for Keith. Day 4 saw both Keith and I get our Roosters and we fished hard for the Pargo, several hookups but no landings as the wind was rippin. All in all an awesome trip. Jill was on our flight on the way home so we had some great company. My eternal thanks to Jonathan and Jill, and to Moogie who organized this trip. I can't wait to go back!
I was gonna caption all these pics but after looking thru them I feel no explanation is needed!
An unbelievable time. I will be back soon.... and so will Keith
