Disagee with Carni, love my combo. I have the Humminbird Martix 65. The new color version is even better. Paid 399 for mine but it was on clearence because the 67 was out. I have two zone fishfinder, GPS, Speed, Water Temp, My GPS ties into my VHF so I have DSC and Selective DSC. Moreove it's a chartplotter. I can be in chart mode or fishfinder modo or both and hit mark. It numbers it and moves on. When seting up a drift it is great as it gives me a bread crumb trail to follow. Even better it gives me a direction arrow to my way point with heading and distance.

All of this is in a completely waterproof submersible package. The color unit is even better. Comes with detail Navionics charts and has the ability to take upgrade cartridges.

Huminbird support has been excelent including fixing the unit which I bought clearence as is, and providing software downloads that have made the unit even better.

Combo is the way to go because it provides integration and improved situational awarenes.

I have a Garmingps168 sounder. And it can't tell the diffence between seaweed and fish. Due to recent alternator malfunctionwhich blew out my transducer. I took the opertunity to upgrade to a stand alone Raymarine unit.

garmin is dual frequency as well.. i never really liked lowrance, i have heard there is more return and repair ratio on the lowrance then garmin, my garmin 2006c model which i showed you above is great have had no trouble with it and is dual freqency too which is great for fishing around here when we do bottom fish.

Personally I like seperate units for everything. If it fails, you are screwed all together.

Plus I like to see everything all at once.

My personal opinion:

Garmin makes the best GPS and Furuno makes the best fish finders and radars.

I have the duel panel 10" Raymarine L70 system. I like having two screens so I can see everything all at once. i can ron Depth Map and radar and video all at at the same time. There are several that do this. Garmin is an awsome machine. I also have a Garmin screen as a second GPS and am currently having a issue with it. The up side is fixing it is 69.99 through garmin. No matter what is wrong they will fix it for 69.99. My .02
