Just bought new GPS. SCORE!

So I'm wandering around BoatersWorld on Monday night, cause I do that now, and I was jsut in there to return a hitch ball. I've had my eyes on a GPS for a few weeks, but I know I can't afford one. So I take a look at the Garmin 182, and it's got a price tag of $199.00 on it. Hmm, it must be just a GPS but not a chartplotter or anything better than my handheld I already have. Well wouldn't you know it, it's a discontinued model that retails for $850.00 and BW regular price is $599.00. I guess they are blowing them out. So I picked up the GPS, and a Blue Chart chip for CA and Mex and I walked out of there with a warranty for under $400.00. Friggin score. Best of all, if I break it while it's under warranty, they have to replace it with a newer model...

ahh, not really. The only ones I saw were around $120.00. But I really wasn't looking. I'll check for you tomorrow, I gotta go get a few fittings.

WOW that is a good price!! might have to see if they have anymore.

I just picked up a icom m32li hand held VHF from west marine for 149.99 it has the new lithium Ion battery and works great. Has the new mil spec water proofing and best of all west marine was running a deal that got me a 3 year replacement free.

Now for a GPS!!!

I have this exact GPS on my boat and LOVE it! Make sure to turn on WAAS! You'll love this thing....

Let me know if you have any questions about it. I know this unit like the back of my hand...

When I got there they only had one left, plus the floor model. I doubt it's still there, but for that price, someone should give it a look.

Mitch, it took me a whopping 5 minutes to install. red, black, antenna, I was done. Luckily I already had an antenna mount on the boat and plenty of room on the dash.

Joey, I'll hit you up if (more like when) I run into something. My little Asian brain is still reading over the manual, but I took it out last night and it worked awesome.

Cool beans. I had a few quotes from some guys local for my install. They wanted $900+. Took me a few hours of layout and planning and 6 hrs of actual install. Prices like that i just cant understand. Its one thing getting paid for a job well done..but some of these marine installers are just rip off artists. The sad thing most people dont understand how simple it is to do things yourself. And i feel your pride on a job well done. Enjoy your GPS.
Do you have a good sounder yet?

LOL, I called one guy just to check cost of install, he wanted $450.00. Man, what a joke. I told him I already had an antenna mount and everything. Yeah, the boat came with a Furuno LS-6100. Awesome unit. I am totally set up now with everything I need.........so far. LOL
