Destructive Hooping

Ive been workin on grinding the hull of the Katie Lewis (our urchin boat) down at Anacapa Boat Yard and saw a really nice Boca Grande boat probably 40 somethin feet that had its prop and shaft torn up by accidently driving over an abandoned lobster hoop. They told me the boat had $20,000 damage!!

Be careful with your hoops guys and look out for left over hoops

We've gotten several hoops stuck out there but when that happens, we cut the ropes as close as we can to water line, and attached something weighted to then to sink the line out.

Wrapping a prop sucks!
