The three that i'm possibly considering are:
1. 150 Yamaha
2. 140 Suzuki
3. 135 Honda
For the whole package i have quotes of approximately:
1. $13-13.5K for the yamaha
2. $12K for the Suzuki
3. $12K for the Honda
I'm leaning towards the suzuki at this point. Price is important followed very closely by reliability and performance. Please weigh in with your opinions. If i go through with this, it'll be within the next month.

Aslo, consider that the 140 Suzuki and 150 Suzuki have huge differences. The 140 Zuke is built on a fairly small block and has pretty much been cranked up all the way to get that 140 horsepower, and it turns a fairly small prop. The 150 Zuke is on a big block, and I mean big. Lots of torque and swings a massive prop. For me, I'd go with the 150 Zuke in that power class. If the 150 Zuke is too much, then I'd go the route of the 150 Yamaha. I'd not even consider a 135 horse engine on that boat.

Tells you RPM ,Temp, Batt Volts,Oil Press. Engine hours.Even tells you when to service it ,and lets you know if you have water in your fuel.Check it out at Yamahas website. |

They are lighter for the relative HP then other brands and getting better fuel economy. I really hate saying that because I love yami but the truth is what it is. I would follow Defiance's advice too on that.

Good luck .

You'll stress the 150 a lot less than a 120. 120 horses on that boat is definitely underpowered. There are pros and cons on all of the 150 4 strokes, but the good news is that they are all pretty damn good. The Suzuki will swing the biggest prop of any of them. I have nothing against the Yams or the Hondas either. Price shop them and see what you can get. Just make sure to get a stainless prop and get the folks that put the engine on to agree to assist you in properly propping the boat.

Have you talked with Eric @ Specialty Marine? He's a dealer/installer for all three.
Sometimes you can get a new motor with a "blem"....like a little scratch in the cowling or equivalent.....for $1-2k less.... |
