Tune Ups

On the verge of sounding stupid and out of my element, my buddy bought a 16' alluminum boat with a '76, 2 stroke 85 Merc. My question to you all is where would be a good place to take it and get a once over, maybe a tune up, you know just check it out and make sure there are no major problems?
How much could he expect to pay for something like that?

Ventura area I don't have a clue to tell ya where to go. I had my 9.9 worked on at the anchor in Canoga Park and it was 175 for tune up and carb adjust. I am sure someone can give ya some better more recent info.
