Greetings - Exploring Used Outrages...

Hey all, great site, great info, can't seem to shut off the computer at night.

I grew up fishing in Newport Harbor and on the cattle boats out of Davey's Locker. Now that my kids are getting old enough, I'd like to get back into fishing myself and get them hooked too.

I had a 14' alum bass boat back in the day that I used to fish Newport and Huntington Harbors. That was fun, but I'd like to be able to go after more than spotted bay bass and short 'butts.

After a good deal of research on boards like these, by bro-in-law and I are considering a used 18-20' outrage. We would request an ocean test if/when we find one we like, but it would be nice to spend a solid day on one with the normal evolutions in weather. If anyone has room for two on upcoming excursion, we'd be happy to cover the gas.

I'm in Westlake Village and he's in Encino, but would be more than willing to take a long trek down the 405.

Probably should read 18-20' CCs. We're going to take a look at other boats as well (Gradys, Parkers, Makos, etc.) and are open for recommendations and/or specific boats that you may come across. Are looking sub $20K but are more concerned with finding the right boat at a good price than a specific dollar range. Thanks all...

I would recommend finding one you like in your price range and requesting a sea trial. Keep an eye on craigslist and boattrader. I've seen several pop up recently.

Check out inland auto and boats website.I've puchased 2 boats from these folks over the years,and they WANT you to test drive the boat at the local lake thats nearby.Nice folks family operated place.Just check the boat very carefully,I belive they buy alot of boats at auction so buyer beware.The two times i've been there they bent over backwards for me to get both boats delivered .Check it out.

I agree with this. I did not buy the boat they had but they sure treated me right and were even willing to deliver it all the way to SFV. They also give you a one month warranty in case something goes wrong with the boat.

Thanks for the advice fellas. I always like being able to look the seller in the eyes, go through receipts, etc., but I'll definitely check them out. Hope to look at a couple boats this weekend.
