Nope. You will need to take the boat off. Just dump in the water at the lake or harbor and tie it up to a dock away from everyone. Then head up to the parking lot and start the recarpeting project. Make sure to use stainless staples.

My plan is to get a guest slip for the weekend and then do the work on the trailer at home. I need to replace my carpet too and change out the brakes for the stainless disk set up. Along with a few other little here and there things.

Told ya that ya jumped in w/both feet! Yep the boys are right on about this one.Take it off the trailer ,and do it right.
I like Carnis idea about doing it at home cause you'll have everything you need right there in case you forget something.
Get a razor knife, and just get busy.Joey's right on about using stainless too.Don't be surprised if you find out you need to replace your wood, cause of rot.
Just serviced mine for the first 100hrs at the shop to keep it under warranty.OUCH!!
It's all good though cause when I'm watchin my kids or friends pull on fish,or I'm pullin bugs out of the holes this year it will be all worth it.
Embrace it! Have fun w/the project! It's all part of boat ownership.
Good luck, take some before, and after pics, and post em up for us.
MJ.

Depends on the size of the boat but probably only about 25 bucks or so.

Hi Kevin

I replaced my rails, carpet and bolts that way, I made them up in advance, put them on the next day in 15 mins at perris with a cordless drill. And went fishing for the day. The boards will rot out around the screws so its a good idea to replace them with the carpet and use new bolts. sounds like all your fun has started. talk later.

At channel islands they told me my 23' would cost 32 dollars a day. You will have to have it safety checked too by the harbor patrol to make sure you have all the right equipment and safety gear before they will let you park it there. Hence the reason I need two days hehehe.

The other thing you can do is take a 16d nail or equivalent scribe and push it up in the wood to see if it is starting to rot. If it is really spongy then it is time to change the wood too. If you use treated wood then paint it with a decent polyurethane you can get another 5 years out of your wood before you will have to change it again. When you drill the holes for the bolts you can seal the open wood with 5 minute epoxy and then cover the wood with the carpet/covering. Stainless staples are good and cheap but stainless broad head tacks will stick better in pine and will last longer. MUCH more pricey though and hard to find. I am still looking for some hehehe.
