BAIT BAG VS. BAIT TANK ??

BAIT BAG VS. BAIT TANK ??

our boat has the old bait bag or pat of it still on it, so my first choice was getting a new bag and hinges / brackets that i'm having a hard time to find, are they any good ?? or should i just dismiss the bag and get a tank ?
i wish to use the bag since it will save me some space in the boat
Moses

More of a personal choice then anything. Bags are easy to set up and like you said can be easily put out of the way but will kill bait quicker, and tend to beat the bait up more.

Not to mention the weight that a bag W/all that sea water put on the a@# end of your boat.
Like Carni says it's up to you.

My problem is the limited space that we have, also we use the boat more for cruising w/ family then fishing.
i need to see if the swim step is strong enough to mount the tank on it, if yes that will resolve part of our problem

Thanks Carnivore

Bait tanks can be taken out rather easy depending on how elaborate you install it. Most ones mounted on a swim step just have a pump mounted on the transom that runs upto the tank and the return is just hanging off the side and runs right back into the water. It could be set up easy on a swim step to be taken off in 15 to 30 mins easy if not quicker. Again completely your call there isn't a wrong way to do it unless your bait croaks hehehe.

When Pineapple had the Miss Marilyn (19ft Bayliner) we would strap down one of the trash can type bait tank onto the swimstep using nylon tie down straps. We then had the pump bolted onto the boat and would disconnect the hose when we didn't need the bait tank. Worked great except for the extra weight on the back of the boat, we would dump out the water before heading back in at the end of the day.
