12' aluminum

Here is my boat.
Cons
-it leaks alot
Pros
-i paid $450 for boat, motor and trailer
-i dont have to keep it at my house
-it gets me out fishing more
-truck is able to pull it (barely)->(4cylinder truck)

Soon im going to fill it up with water and find out where it leaks, then flip her over and try to fix some of it with JB weld. I was told this would work fairly well and its inexpensive, only like $5 for the JB weld.

Damn. I had one just like but had to sell it when I got divorced last year. Its a great feeling when you can go dunk your own boat in the bay or lake whenever you want. Newport bay has rentals and its like 90 for a 1/2 day now!

JB weld, PC9 or just plain old epoxy will work. I had a hole in the bow of mine that was caused when my grandpa dropped the anchor on it. The epoxy held for 30+ years. I had to replace it 3 seasons ago after we had hooped the heck out of it. Nice boat an it gets ya where you want to go. Here is a shot of me headed to deep hole from CI harbor lol. Sinker took the shot just before he took off an LEFT ME !!

Yep,something special about havin your own vessel, and takin it out.
For me all the work,maint,PAYMENT..is worth every dime.
I think if I didn't have Offgassin to take out once in a while,I'd eat a bullet

Heck yeah, slap some JB weld on that thing ,and get it wet.
Go get some!
MJ.

Thumbs up

Aluminum fleet don't you love 'em? Mine's a 14' and doesn't leak had to use bilge pump to get about 150 gallons of rain water out....see the bucket crunched in....had it backed into drive way with drain hole going up and water filled the bow

Sweet boat. It looks a lot like mine, and I have had several leaks also. I have had good luck with 5200 quick dry. I like it because it is flexible. I don't think those other products are. Home Depot sells a small tube for around $8. Just clean the hull real good around the leak with sandpaper or a wire brush and then put a small amount on it and let it dry. After it is hard it will not come off under water.

I'm the man of my word....hehehehe

I've had too many of those boats so i started upgrading to bigger ones, but they are nice because theyre light!

One thing I've noticed and paid attention to:

ALL(about 6) the 12'ers i've owned leaked!WTF?And others that my friends own....

All the 14'ers ive owned barely leaked about 1/4 gallon a day or nothing???Thats pretty wierd....

Mines riveted. Which leaks more? Rivets or welds?

Rivets unless you have a broken weld. Ya like you couldn't figure that one out on your own hehehe. You can have the spray in bed liners for trucks put in an it will help plug any rivet leaks. On my boat it is painted on the bottom inside with some kind of plastic sealer an after 40 years of use it is all but given up. I most likely won't use it again unless I sell the big boat so I am not worried about fixing it any day soon.
