Need tech advise

Have a 2006 Century 2001CC with 150 Yamaha. I am second owner and have had the boat in the water once. I filled it up today holds sixty gallons but only took about 22. Noticed strong smell of gas in head area and can also smell it strong coming out of rod holders. Noticed smell first time out but not as strong as now. Any ideas

Sounds like you have a leak either in the tank or a fuel line. Can you locate the tank, or does the deck need to be removed? Unfortunatley its probably not going to be an easy task.

Check top of fuel tank around sending unit, vent line or fuel line output, shutoff valve, and check in bilge or under floor area for fuel leakage. Access to those areas might be a pain but better to be safe!!! Had the same problem with my boat and it was a pinhole in the weld on the top corner of aluminum tank and it only smelled when i topped it off. Is your tank plastic or aluminum?

Another thing make sure the vent tube is attached to the out side vent. Sounds stupid but sometimes these things get over looked when putting a boat together. Also above posts too but start with the easy an work up from there. Congrats on the new ride too.

Another good one is that the fill tube was not seated and clamped properly on the fill funnel, and you pumped fuel right into the bilge.....

Been there, done that.......

In your defense it was after only 2 hours sleep an a hard night drinking. I remember cleaning up the mess. Getting flipper to stop smoking was the hardest part of all.
