just picked this up 4 $900 bucks. looks to be super clean its an 81 starcraft i believe its 18 feet long it has a 90 hp johnson. got it off a little ol lady whos hubby (R.I.P), used to fish the lake with. its never seen salt water. i had a thread a couple mos back asking about charging it on a 14 ft aluminum. but everyone said NOOOOO!!! so what do u guys think about this one

If you pick your days come back early then it should be ok. Problem is the water can change quick an this isn't what I would want to be in if the water turns nasty. Better then the 14' but absolute minimum for an island runner.

wash the trailer, springs, wheels, etc real good immediately after dunking the boat or it will sit in the parking lot rusting away while you are out fishing. Other than that....get vessel assist, a VHF handheld and go for it!
start out exploring north and south of the local harbors to get acclimated and then head for 'Anacapa from Channel Islands Harbor.

PS: I like how the neighbors used inverted DE RW fencing over the asbestos(?) siding. It actually looks good.

Better boat than the last one, but you still need to really plan your days according to weather and make sure that boat is in top operating order. The problem is, you can sit behind the islands all day and have it be flat calm, then as soon as you poke around the corner, it could be blowing 30+. Could that boat handle that kind of weather? And if so, do you have the skills needed to get through it?

dude i have six boats not to brag, but all of them together wouldnt add up to half as much as most peoples boats on here are worth. i know crap about lake fishing. ive taken my tiller controlled 14 foot aluminum 25 miles round trip from port san luis to point sal on less than pleasant conditions ive free dived with crazy hawaiians at night almost sucked out to sea and have hitch hiked on giant sea turtles and you are gonna tell me stick to the lakes. im not stupid im just asking cuz i dont know that area well and want to make sure i do it right. just cuz u wouldnt go on anything less than the queen mary with seatbelts doesnt mean everyone else would. stick to the lakes thats so funny. i bleed salt water . oh yeah i believe asking if a 14 ft tiller control will make it and asking if a 18 foot will make it are quite different questions
