BBQ & SURF FISHING

GET TOGETHER.

Date: Saturday August 22nd 2009

Place: Mugu beach

Time: 12pm for potluck.

Event times: to be announced.

IT IS HERE, time again to get the party started an have a BBQ with friends family and get to know your fellow Get Benters.

A special thanks to Pineapple for getting this ball rolling early and spear heading this event.

The times: are not set but lunch will be at 12pm to 12:30 but will run as long as I have food to cook an people to feed. You can arrive anytime after 6am as I believe the parking lot has no parking from 10pm to 6am.

Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided and if you would like to bring something of your own that is always appreciated but not required. (If you have a special menu please bring what you need and we can cook it up for ya no problem).

Mugu beach is lacking with amenities but there are andygumps and an R.V. bathroom for the kids an ladies. If you have tables, pop up canopies or chairs please bring them if you can. A list of members that would like to join will immediately follow so please reply to this thread with number of people joining you and anything you would like to bring or supply.

This is open to members an their family's and friends. Feel free to bring them along the more the merrier.

Ok here is the disclaimer:

The BBQ is an event put together to get members together to have a good time and enjoy. MUGU BEACH is notorious for SEVERE UNDERTOW and RIP CURRENTS. The beach has large drop off in the white water and is not a place one would want to just go in for a swim or walk up to the knees in. There isn't any life guards so watch out for one another and children too. The rocks get very slippery when wet and are dangerous anyway so we suggest you stay off but if you must please know you have been warned and that more than one fishermen has been swept out to sea from the rocks never to be seen again. On the other end of the beach is the Pt. Mugu Naval Base Firing Range. It is a FEDERAL OFFENSE to go onto this property not to mention the pure stupidity of walking along the target end of a firing range. PLEASE BE SAFE we want you around to the next BBQ.

Bottom line we are not trying to scare anyone just want to make sure you are aware of the situation that is all. Last 2 years we had fun here and it worked out very well.

We hope to see you all there. The link to the 2006 get together . As last year was rained out. If it should rain again we will opt for Sunday and if both days should be rained out we will see then what arrangements can be made.

Directions: from Los Angeles are: Once on the 101 go north over the camarillo grade (big hill) can't miss it. Once at the bottom go approx, 5 miles and exit Las Posas Rd. Take Las Posas south (over the freeway) roughly 7.5 miles to Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). Go over the over pass and turn Left to enter the highway just before the guard gate to Mugu air station. Take PCH roughly 2.5 miles to just past the marine corps shooting range but before the mugu rock, and turn right into the parking lot for mugu beach. after 7am I should be there with the camper an the GETBENT banner on it. Park and come on up an say HI!!! Pictures an map below...Red line on map is Las Posas Rd to PCH and then to the parking lot (or just about).

Things to bring: plates, cups, plastic ware, bowls, trash bags an or cans, tables, chairs, canopies.

Food: any salads (potato, pasta, etc.) chips, dips, snakes, fruit, Mac an cheese or anything you would like to share.
