Hi,

cjcates007 here, just moving to Camarillo from Washington State. Bringing my 25' Glastron cuddy, outfitted for northwest salmon and bottomfishing. I am keeping my boat at Pt. Mugu Naval Station and will be looking for a fishing buddy to show me the ropes out here in Ventura County. I am clueless on how to fish down here and what tackle to use, but have fished all my life and ready to learn. I am also a diver and would love to go out and dive the Channels and get some good lobster..... Hope to meet some locals and hit the high seas for some good fishing.

CJ! Welcome aboard! You definitely came to the right place dude. Give me a shout when you get out here and we'll buddy boat out to the islands. I have an arsenal of spots for rock fish that you are sure to get totally bent on. Also, the way this water has been heating up, the yellowtail and bass are going to bust wide open soon. You couldn't have picked a better time to join us. The best part of it is, I'd say 75% of our most active members are right out here in Ventura County. Keep an eye on the event calendar. I'm trying to get everyone trained on posting to it when they go out so if anyone wants to join, they can.

One great thing about us here is we are not just another fishing site. We are Get Bent. With that stands the Get Bent Brotherhood. There are a bunch of us that fish together on a regular basis and love to pull new people into the fun.

Your in for it dude, just keep an eye on the boards. We are pretty active here.

Again, welcome aboard!

Joey

Hey, welcome to GetBent Cj !!!

If your crazy about fishing and like meeting and fishing with friends, you've found the honey hole of all honey holes here! We do it all... freshwater river, lake, pond mud hole... and saltwater up the wazoo... surf, pier, jetty, harbor, inshore, offshore, and on and on and on. Our local salmon guy I think is Carnivore... hes from up north also and is looking forward to his first salmon season this April. As I understand it the silver salmon are now off limits completely, so Kings I think will be the target salmon. This will also be my personal first season of salmon fishing, and Joey's as well. Joey just bought a 26ft shamrock... we've broken her in well with rockfish and lingsat the islands and local flattie fishing, but I'm really looking forward to the salmon run. Arco Island (just north of here) is supposed to be a known salmon spot.

If you looking for tackle tips the sky's the limit here. It basically depends on what your looking to target, then we can go from there. We've got lots of halibut fisherman here so rigs and tips wont be short... yellowtail will be showing up soon (some have shown already), and thats were you get my blood boiling!

locations is also sorta dependent on what your looking to target. Rockfish... you cant go wrong in the gap between Anacapa Island and Santa Cruz Island. Sharks are a short run past the island, and halibut at Chinese Harbor (Santa Cruz) get HUGE. But like I said... let us know what your looking for and we will hook ya up!

OK, I gotta run and let others put in some replys... but again, welcome to the best fishing site on the net dude...

Tight Lines!

Looks like you are set big time for salmon fishing.Welcome to the board. You will find down here that salmon fishing isn't much different I have fished for years as a kid up in brookings Oregon and twin harbors Washington. I worked most every summer on the Fisher King out of twin harbors and did some back up skippering.

Just remember one thing in California silvers (cohos) are a no no to keep any more. They don't spawn in the rivers down here but have been known to hit some of the norther rivers above Frisco. They run from there winter homes in the deep pacific just past us out here and head north to spawn so any we can get are fair game.

I am hoping to have my big boat done this summer but for now I got a we little one so if you are looking for crew/ help/ expenses I am sure you will not have a short supply of volunteers. No one here is pushy and all are a good group of guys that like to laugh and have a good time. Glad to see you joined and please post any trips you want that let us join in your fun times.

Flipper forgot to mention that if you ever need advise on longrange trips or bajafishing in mexico, central America or any exotic places, visit our Extreme Fishingboard. In that case, if you have any fishing reports from beyond, by all means post, we would love to read them. Edited by: bajadave
