Oh, To Be Young Again!
The reason I hanker to return to yesteryear is that fishing was far more rewarding then. I grew up in the Venice area (1936-1954) and spent many a day fishing Ocean Park and Santa Monica Piers. Also caught with my brothers numerous corbina from the surf. Well, despite the lack of fish nowadays, I still make an attempt at surf fishing a few times a month. Two Saturdays ago I was using a BH #63 and caught my first keeper halibut of the year from the surf. He was released but was just shy of 24". Am heading out tomorrow to try to catch him again or his bigger brother in the Belmont Shores area. Taut lines to all.
