I am a newbie..... kinda....did a lot of fishing in my younger days mostly on lakes and rivers...I have recently been introduced to ocean fishing and I am really having a blast trying to learn it....I mostly fish off the Ventura Pier and soon to be out surf fishing.....[img]smileys/smiley14.gif[/img]. Looking forward to enjoying fishing again. Been out on two charters those were a blast. So watch out there's a new girl in town...lol


I have two children and they are just as excited to learn fishing too....only time will tell what will happen.....[img]smileys/[/img]

The pier can be great at times with some fine catches coming from there. A couple of the guys fish that pier and surf fish that area as well. They would be a good group to meet up with especially if you wish to fish the harbor at night for some big rays - lots of fun and nice to be in a group. They also get-together on boats as well.


Nice to have another lady aboard and please know when I say fishermen it also means fisherwomen I am just lazy as my typing skills are some what, well ok they suck but I can fish ok - does that count?

Also welcome Missy, the Ventura pier is for perch now and corbina and croakers in may into Aug. Fresh mussel and shrimp work well for bait.

Missy!!! this place will make your head spin and your stomache ache
from all the laughter you will most assuedly be victim to....Like the
others have said....there are alot of guys, myself included, who fish
that Ventura pier. FLipper, Carnivor, Anotherbite and myself were out
there last night have in a blast with the comeraderie and all those
damn pin backs we kept on hookin into. All of us here are pretty much
any time anywhere for the most part....LOL....some more than others
yes, but yeah...if you want company on a trip to the pier o anywhere (
is HIGHLY suggest the powerplant in oxnard) Post it and Im sure there
will be plenty of us who will bend over backwards to get out there and
fish and help you with most anything you may need ....and the best part

Welcome to Get Bent FishyMissy! This isTHE best spot on the web for information about the type of fishing you are doing and about to do. I second everything you have heard so far. Anytime you are going just put it on the calendar and as always, any event we put on the calendar, just consider yourself invited! As Flipper, Sinker, Joey, and Carnivore will attest, you should see how far I have come in this sport, especially the area ofsurf fishing since joining this past July. I feel I should warn you about this group though, if you are not into catching fish, laughing yourself silly, having fun,and hanging around with some of the bestfriends you will ever find anywhere, this is probably not the place to come because all of those happen every time we go out.
