Best Advice for Surf Fishing Northern Cal Coast

We are planning a trip to the stretch of Northern Calif. coast between Ft Bragg and Cresent City. My surf fishing experience is mainly from the Torrey Pines/San Diego coast area. Bared Perch & Corvina, lite gear, lite line. I'm looking for best thinking for gear, bait and locations for the time period of late June. Which species would I be targeting? What size real & line? Any favorite spots. Thanks in advance: Jurel

I'm new around here also, but I have fished for over 40 years and I have this to offer,
My brother lives in Pt Orford OR about 70 miles past the border so it's similar territory.
Fishing off a sandy beach you'll get other kinds of perch, typically larger up north, redtails, rainbows etc., flatfish and small sharks and rays of different kinds, stripers as mentioned and if you're lucky, white sea bass.
Down here I usually fish 6-8 lb off the beach but up there I may go 10-30 or more depending....
Healthier environment = Bigger fish
My bro's pal has photos of a 42lb striper and 48lb wsb he'd caught off the beach south of Battle Rock using one of the local monster sand crabs as bait.
Natural baits are always good but can occasionally be hard to get;
I've had very good luck up there with our new friend GULP and swimbaits and Krocodiles work anywhere.
There are also places where you can fish fairly deep water from the rocks if the swell is down. You can catch rock fish, lings etc. but you have to be very careful! That's where the long rods and the heavy string can come in handy.
Poke poling is fun and popular in the rocky areas also.

Good luck!
