New Alaskan Member

Greetings from the north.

Just to let you know a little about myself:
Born and raised in Seattle area. Learned to fish in Pacific Northwest waters.

26 year Alaska resident. Avidly fish Alaskan coastal waters and rivers. Target everything from grayling to halibut. My favorites in Alaska are trophy rainbows (5 pounds and up) and silver salmon.

I make at least one trip a year somewhere warm to fish. Favorite destinations are Baja and Florida Keys. Although I do enjoy billfishing and tuna, my favorite targets are tarpon, roosterfish and dorado.

I fish with everything from flyrods to big game tackle, dryflies to bait. I'm not a purist - I will use what works.

While catching lots of big fish is a passion for me, its equally important to share the experience with good friends and family.

Fish on!

Welcome AK fisher. Love that state, although I only fished there once, for two months, in '78. Did you guys ever get rid of those dang mosquitoes?

Top 5 reasons we have not gotten rid of the mosquitoes in Alaska:
5. DDT is difficult to come by these days.
4. Too many. Where would you start?
3. If the mosquitoes were gone, what would the tourists have to whine about?
2. I think its considered the official state bird!
1. They help keep some of the rookies out of the fishing holes. That's the same reason I love golf courses.
