Greetings all:

My name is Jimmy and I'm returning to the sport after a heart attack. I used to do alot of five day trips to Mexico, but now I want to stay close.

Asand stack, a canopy for shade, a good book and a bell to get my attention, will make my day! I can walk into the surf, cast out and return to my cooler. That's what I have in mind.

A friend of mine mentioned Bolsa Chica beach in LA. I think that would be too crowded. West Goleta State beach was also mentioned.

Would you guys help out an old Hoghead with a good location around la? Thankyou!!!!!

I personally don't know the beaches in the L.A. area, but we do have some surf anglers in that area, they will probably help you out once they see your post

BTW what is a Hoghead

Welcome aboard Jimmy! Where abouts to you live? What type of fish are you looking to target? I think with a little bit of info from you, wecould gladly point you in the right direction. There are tons of spots up and down the California coastline that will produce fish for you.

Again welcome to Get Bent!

Joey

"What is a Hoghead?." Well, a Hoghead is a Locomotive Engineer. You know, that dude who kept blocking that R.R. crossing during rush hour...#@%#@!

I live in Glendale now and I'd love to catch a Halibut . I have no illusions about the prospectsof catching one, but youasked.

I moved this to intros as it was closer to that. Glad you join us and believe it or not I know what a hoghead was. I had a neighbor a few years back that was a retired engineer but he has since passed so I know you are not him. Or maybe you are mmmmoooooaaaaahhhhhhh. I know don't scare the new guy. Hope to hear a few of you trips and maybe join you on a few but if you do I think you will find that a book will not be of much use as we tend to B.S. allot but hay you never know.

Welcome to Get Bent! There is a state beach in Marina Del Ray (the name escapes me) that I have heard is good for surf fishing. The only other spots I know of are in Ventura county. But, if interested, we can fill you in on those!

Retiredhogger,

Welcome to GetBent! I think you will come to enjoy this site very much as it has a very diversified range of fishing that it's members like to do. Don't be shy here because the only bad fishing question you could have is the one you don't ask.
