Well, I've been reading this message board for about a month now, finally decided to register so I can learn more about our waters and share the good times that I have fishing. Don't be discouraged with my stupid questions. Much Respect.. - keefe

Welcome, Keefe, you've come to the right place. Sinker is a great guy, and he runs a great board. You can learn a lot from the folks here.

thanks for the welcomes... This board looks like fun. That Seabiscuit story was something else. anyway, I am from OXNARD of course. 23 years and counting. I average about one trip a week and one charter every 3-4 months for the past 2 years. My friend just bought a 19" sea ray. Thats what we fish off, not the best fishing boat but it gets us out there. We have a gps but no radar so we choose our days. Next weekend we hope to do some rockfishing since thats what seems to be on right now, aside from the finicky YT. Except with no finder, its tough to find the rocks down there. Any suggestions..? - keefe

Welcome Keefe! Glad your with us...
Try the "gap" between Anacapa Island and Santa Rosa Island. You'll see boats parked out there drifting for rock fish. I was there yesterday for a short time and we had hits all over. Its 180ft of water and lings and rockfish are all over down there. You'll have a fish as soon as you hit the bottom. Good luck, and look forward to your reports.

Welcome aboard Keefe! Mike is right about the Gap. It's rockfish galore. You really don't need a fish finder out there. Just get in the general area and start your drift. You'll hook up.
Again, welcome!
Joey

thank you all for responding so soon.. I have fished the Channel Islands for the past 2 years with chartered boats but never have I had to find the fish for myself. I will try "the gap" next weekend. I have fished this spot before with the Pacific Eagle and had success. I also hear that there is a large rock bottom about 2-300 yards before you reach Anacapa, about 100-120 feet, any truth to this..? Also, where is the shipwreck that I often hear about,..? thanks for all the feedback, this information brings much delight. Just so you all know, my fishing ettiquete is up to par. No abusing the waters from me... thanks again... - keefe.

ha,ha. very funny. Pescado, I have a link for a portable live well that you can mount onto kayaks if you need to know how to keep your bait alive. .. let me know.... I saw the picture and figure that you already have one, but let me know, I have a great link to make your own...... keefe
