Left Ventura Ca. (Channel Is), and live in Oregon now. Have spent alot
of time investigating the Newport, Walport and Florence areas.
Salmon and steelhead are the thing here and Albies off the coast. Got
on this board as I need all the info I can get.

Welcome come on in sit down have a drink or two and enjoy the crowd. Not sure how many members are up there but if you look around some and post questions in the west coast maybe some will pop in and give in some info. I used to spend my summers up there in brookings and Westport WA. area but that has been some time ago and from what I hear the fishing regulations have run out most of the salmon fishing. It is a shame, I was up in Astoria last summer and the harbor was dead and half the boats were sunk or sinking.

Kings are running in the Bay at Walport now (ALSEA river). Saw to two
boats come in with limits last Friday. Salmon (Kings) up to 28
lbs.Season closed in the ocean on the31 of Oct but must rivers and Bays
are open. Each seems to have its own regulations.

Suislaw river (Florence) is doing good now too so I shouldn't have to
much trouble finding something to fish for. Sure miss the channel
Islands weather.

Hey Bob, Looks like your not missing much. The fishing is slow but the bait has showed up again. Will report next week. Goose hunt was a blast. Hunting Mugu tomorrow.

Take care,

David
