Whos Cali bear you ask?? Just another brn bear from California trying to catch that Golden State fish. Actually I fish in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties, from Mugu to Gaviota. I love to fish the surf, Stearns Wharf, Goleta Pier, Ventura Pier (when I need a fishing fix bad enough), Gaviota Pier, and I do go out on the cattle ships from time to time.A couple of my favorite ultra light - light tackle surf spots are La Conchita and Santa Claus Lane. I use my 15 foot heavy rods at 5th street in Oxnard or at Mugu when I want to play with the 5-6 foot guitarfish, other wise I use my med tackle on the North jetty at Channel Island harbour. I work in Santa Barbara but live in Oxnard. Right now I'm working the nite shift and I do enjoy it, for once my shift is over I stop by the beach and fish for2-4 hours then go home to bed. In fact its almost 9 am now and I cant stop thinking about hitting Santa Claus Lane this morning. The water is finally clearing up and I caught a handful of small perch there yesterday morning. Oh I almost forgot,My name is Genaro, male, and in my mid forties. And I'm looking forward to meeting you on the beach, pier, or cattle boats, just so long as we all have bend rods!!!!

You are in the right area to hook up with a lot of these guys. You say you fish Goleta Pier - do you happen to know Pierhead?

Santa Claus Lane can produce some nice halibut and when the Bat Rays come into spawn that place is on fire.

5 to 6 feet Shovel Nose - Dude if you are serious you are catching new All-Tackle Record fish those are monsters.

Definitely try to hook with these crazy guys when you can. I am on the other coast so can't join in the fun but boy I used to.

Boy do I feel the love in here!!! Thank you allfor the very warm welcome. As to how I came to this site Bearfish one of the guys from work is big into his Tuna fishing and mentioned the site, but I must confess I belong to a number of sites. And Sinker about that Guitarfish, I stand 5-11, and the nose of it was in the sand while its tail barely cleared my head. I only caughtone that big once and have beenlooking for another one on 5th street ever since. The average size I catch there is about 3 to 4 feet long.Anyways, thanks again everyone for the warm welcome!!! Its good to find a site with a number of people from my area. Stay safe and happy fishing!! Cali bear
