Time: 5:45 AM till 12:00 PM

Location: Butterfly Beach (Montecito)

Conditions:
Clear, moderate surf, moderate current, water very clear with moderate debris (kelp/grass)

Tide:
Low Tide 2.3’ at 6:39 AM, High Tide 5.0 at 1:17 PM water temperature 65°

Set Up:
Rod - 7‘ Shakespeare Ugly Stik Intercoastal with Shimano Stadic 4000FH Reel and 8lb test P-Line – Used Big Hammer swim baits 3” & 4“, Scent - Procure Anchovy Oil & Calico Cocktail Sauce (mixed)

Catch:
1 juvenile WSB (about 18”) released

Comments: Took the kayak up to Butterfly beach in Montecito and fished the east end all the way down to Hammonds Beach (I think that’s what it’s called). The swells were a little larger than I had expected, but other then that, the conditions were pretty good. There were tons of baitfish in the water all along and just outside the surf zone, but I just could not seem to get anything to bite. I tried several different colors and switched sizes a couple of times. Finally hooked up with the small WSB as I was heading back to the beach, just outside a zone of kelp.

Here are a couple pictures of the WSB
