surf reel

i have a rod that is prob around 5-10 years old but is in good condition. i want to say its most likely a k-mart special back in the day so maybe a shakespear or something i forget. how ever i re did the blank to make it look all nice and what not. but my jarvis walker reel looks funny on it. i'm in search of a new reel maybe in the $100-$200 price range. something that is not huge or to heavy, but has got some beef to it. a reel that could handle some big fish from shore. reels on land i do not know to much about i'm use to fishing from boats with conventional so spin tackle is not my forte. if anyone has some good reels they could point me in the right direction i would appreciate it.

what are you targeting? Whats the rating on the rod?

TARGETING BASS BLUES MAYBE WOULD LIKE TO SURF SHARKS SOME TIME BUT I DO NOT KNOW THE RATING OF THE ROD. I'M GOING TO GUESS 20-50LB RANGE? IT WAS A K-MART SPECIAL BACK IN THE DAY.
