ok.. went with with the T30 (thanks Skull). Little big, but I've got big hands and willing to give it a shot. Picked up a Penn rod @ sport chalet that should work just fine for the friday trip. I'll update with pics saturday!
Miguel is right....a Torium 14 on a 12-25 teramar jig stick is all you need for anything that swims inshore. Later you might consider a Torium 16 on a 15-30 jigstick for surface iron...

I'd suggest you stick with something with a slightly softer tip. Those G. Loomis Pelagic rods are waaay too stiff (and too pricey). Pick up an 8ft teramar jig stick at your local tackle shop...you'll like how light it feels....and you can get them for about $159.99
