What is your perspective?
One of our friends and partners, “BD” to be specific has numerous threads is regard to the economic, political and security situation in Baja California, specifically between Ensenada and Tijuana, (Northern Baja California). The spectrum of situations range from armed robbery against citizens and tourists, personnel removed from office, high ranking police officials murdered by commandos, Mexican military confiscating weapons from police in a specific city, 1000 plus military troop deployment and economic disaster for the average citizen and businesses in the area. The list goes on and on, and most recently TIJUANA – Another high-ranking municipal police official has been shot and killed, along with his wife and two daughters, police officials said Tuesday. Margarito Saldana Rivera, 43, was shot to death around 4 a.m. at his home in the Los Piños area of Tijuana. Rivera was a district chief in Los Piños, according to municipal police. His wife and 12-year-old daughter were also slain. A 4-year-old daughter was wounded in the attack and died at a hospital, police officials said.
For those of you who always fly into central and southern Baja this has little or no affect on your personal safety because apparently the problem is specific to the northern part of Baja California. But for those of you who drive down to Ensenada in years past I would think that this has a significant impact on you. I was just interested in GB member’s perspective concerning this issue. Your insights into the big picture as well as micro issues are appreciated.
Wasn’t sure where to post this so I picked, “Off Topic”’ even though it is fishing related.
