Joe: Man I am so sorry to hear that I wish I had some bright words of wisdom but that just isn't my style...or ability either.

Told ya we got members in Jacksonville. One of them fishes the Jacksonville pier regularly I believe.

Try this link as well - Jacksonville Beach Pier

I gotta move the transducer on my boat, wash and wax it and I will be back out on the water, probably about 20 miles offshore Wednesday if the weather allows. Cobia and Dorado on the menu.

This is almost on the level of Bad Dog's posts from Bloody Decks, though not as humerous.

im in the south side part i guess? and yeah, this is like dumb and dumber. lol john denvers full of $#i+ but yeah. looks like i might be joinin national guard. talked to a recruiter today, so im thinkin that ill finally enlist, theyll pay for my college, and ill get to stay in florida. i have to meet with the dude again tommorow at 1:30 to further discuss it, but my buddy carl might even enlist with me. this is looking good compared ot what my company had put me through.

Yes, a college degree is a must nowadays. But don't just get any degree, find out what companies are looking for and what they are paying. You need to do your homework on this. Getting a good job that pays well is hard work but worth it.

Chapter 4......

Hey Mike, let me say this before another potential employer feeds you some of that BS you seem to like to believe. Reserve components (National Guard, USMC Reserve, Army Reserve) don't pay for college. You get a monthly stipend (couple of hundred bucks depending on how many college units you take every quarter or semester) for 2 years if you sign a 6 year commitment in the reserves. As a National Guardsman you will probably end up in Iraq before you get to cash in your meager college stipend.

I ended up in Iraq after I received my degree so it didn't matter but then again I didn't join the Marines for college money. All these guys have been giving you valuable advice which you seem to be ignoring. it's your life and ultimately your decision, but let me say this DO NOT let your desire for tuition money be the sole driving force behind you joining a second rate branch of the military like the guard. In a time of war realize that your likelihood of ending in a combat zone is very likely, if you are leaning toward joining any ground forces seriously consider the Marine Corps. If you are adverse to that kind of life stick with your original plan of joining the Navy or the Air Force.
