Lake Murray

Here it is another chapter in the continuing saga of Non fishin fool and the boy. Saturday was a terrible day here in not so sunny San Diego, hail and rain were in the forecast and for once we were not disappointed. But Sunday turned out to be a glorious day, slightly cloudy but still warm enough that I decided to pack up the canoe and the boy and head to Lake Murray. Stopped by the bait shop for some red worms and a six pack of Ballast Points finest (if you haven't tried it you should). Your probably wondering at this point why I posted in the Off Topic Central area? It looks like he is making a fish report? Just keep reading my friends and you will understand. Anyway's we put the canoe in the water after paying our usage fees and start to row towards some structure in the hopes of picking up a couple of bass. I had barely started fishing when my son asked me If I could help him with his pole. "Sure son hand it here". In the process of him handing me his pole he knocked a $2.00 pair of line cutters over the side, his first reaction lunge for the line cutters. My first reaction a quote from Red Foreman (That 70's Show) "Dumbass". My second reaction??? You got it gulping for air and finally treading water. Yeah the big galoot tipped us over. This is the part where I mention that the last thing we did before we got into the SS Titanic was put our PFD's on. Thats why I am writing this instead of you reading about two floaters in the newspaper. Water temp cold. Time in water 20+ minutes. We were assisted by a lovely young couple who were rowing around nearby and another gentleman (Darryl) who was catfish fishing. Lost two rods and one company phone. Gained a new respect for my life preserver and total strangers. The boy and I both learned some lessons first March is too cold for swimming, second lunging for a two dollar fishing tool bad, third maybe we should keep the canoe in the garage until Juneish. Oh yeah we didn't catch any fish either. Thanks for reading.

That's sooooooooooo funny, but it should be in the fishing report because you attempted it anyways. Troy, my friend I hope your pride wasn't hurt and I'm glad you two are safe.............I hate conoes, trade the sucker in and get two kayaks........in case your boy decides he wants to go swimming without you!

He was probably more bummed than I was. Needed a new phone anyway, and like I said as long as we learn from our mistake I won't hold it against him. Besides now he has something to buy me for father's day. New freshwater rod and reel.
