You never know...

Mike - you never know where it will lead ya... I screwed up high school and joined the Navy when I was 17. Didn't know what I wanted to do, etc. When I got out, I signed up for a couple of classes at a Junior College (to meet girls!) and found my passion (academically). AA, BA, MA and PhD later... it all started with the Navy. Good luck, it will work out!

At least you got your cross country epic adventure out of the way. Now you can start your cross oceans epic adventure. Remember when you get to the MEPS station and they start offering you rates to pick wisely. Don't let them pressure you into doing something you don't want to. You will have fun, meet lots of diverse and interesting people and enjoy a camaraderie that you rarely experience in the civilian world. Good luck and if you have any questions post them. Lots of prior service Navy guys here who will do their best to help you out.

Sun Stroke!

WTF?

OK, so I was out in the desert digging up some old holes and I come back to this news?

That sound you did not hear, was me hitting the floor.

One step at a time. Both eyes and ears open. Mouth shut. Until you become proficient in your assigned MOS, and believe me, Uncle Sam is gonna decide where you best fit in their program.

Stick to it and learn as much as you can. Whatever MOS they assign you, take some language classes, Arabic or Chinese. Become an asset. Great way to get ahead and also a door opener with the Intel guys.

Now, I'm not gonna break out the sparkling cider just yet. You make it through boot and I'll put my Blues on and treat ya to the best damn steak dinner you've ever had. Come out top in yer Class and that's a whole 'nother kind of party.

Stick it out on this one Mike. Follow through is the key.

GONAVY!!!!

Good Luck dude. Just remember that bootcamp is just that, bootcamp. Once you get through that, you will be surprised at how easy it will be!
