Double San Diego Jam Knot

Hey guys. I was wondering if the double San Diego Jam Knot is the same a a regular San Diego Jam Knot but with the line simply doubled first; much like the first step in a Palomar. Or, is it doubled through the eye like the first step in a Trilene Knot and then just passed through both loops before tightening. Or, is it something else. Thanks for the help. Hope my explanations make sense...

Brian

No, it is NOT the same there are a few websites that will show you a picture of a SD doublejam, i think Fishing knots on a goodle search will take you to them

I like to think that I am pretty good at searching for things on the internet. For the life of me, I can't seem to find a Double San Diego Jam. I can find the San Diego Jam Knot (even though it is not published as much as other knots), but I can't seem to find the double.

Don't know that I've heard the term San Diego Jam knot, but a Double San Diego knot is the same as a San Diego knot with the line doubled.

That is what I thought. So, in response to my original question, it is a San Diego with the line doubled like the first step in a Palomar.

Just to make sure I have the correct knot, when you cut the tags off, you have three loose tag ends correct. One from the line being doubled in the first step, and two from the loop that you pass through your original loop correct.

I just want to make sure I got it down correctly becuase that knot is huge and ugly as can be when you double it.

you're right about the 3 tags left over and it is ugly. When I tie it with Pline it turns out neater than with other lines though. I only use it for trolling feathers or plugs though.

One of the deckhands on the Excel out of San Diego urged me to use the double San Diego when using iron jigs. While ugly, very strong.

You should try the Matt FISHHEAD knot... but wait til he's really primed... you'll get the ultimate once-in-a-lifetime knot, GUARANTEED!

If all else fails, yeah, go with the double SD Jam... and yes, it's doubling the line on the same knot.

But I usually try my luck with a FISHHEAD knot...

Have you ever tried the "I'm feeling lucky" option when searching Google? It's a trip.
