Black Sea Bass for sale

I thought it was illegal to take or consume Black Sea Bass..but the other day I saw some for sale at a local fish market. What gives?

dont tell me you didnt buy any either lol

Commerical are allowed to take one if its bycatch..tho for as rare as it is..i would have figured it would have cost a bit more. supply and demand thing

also I believe they can Import it for sale. It was probablly from Mexico

sad to see such a majestic creature for sale at a fish market for less than $7 a pound. i heard in mexico people even eat sailfish!?

nothing against the gf...but that last picture is kinda sad...majestic creature made a mockery over...ive pulled on a few and its a heck of fight..but makes me kinda happy to see it live and swim away.

Call it the deep dark tree hugger in me.


Ok i just hugged a seal..im over that...

It's considered an "incidental catch" which allows them to sell it and not waste the food. Seems to me that there would be a lot less "incidental catches" if it were not sellable.

Eric Ericson's does the same thing.

the tiny girlfriend was used for scale dude...you missed the point of my thread. A mockery is say...lip gaffing fish of this size just for a photo opportunity. The sad part is that it's dead and for sale.
