I haven't been around the site for long, but what I enjoy is that for the most part good discussions and assistance are the norm. I have also met some awsome people. If I have any concerns at all it is the foul language camoflaged with symbols. I have noticed that there are a number of youngsters posting and they sure understand what is really meant. I am sure that we want them to get out of the site what it is meant for, the good clean sport of fishing. Can't we do better than that? What adults talk about and the language they use around each other is one thing but not on an open forum.

Great point edskii.
As a parent I have introduced my son into the great sport of fishing to help avoid some of the bad influences in todays society. I think this is a great place for young men and women to to broaden their knowlege and find others with the same interests. Although the foul language dosn't bother me and I freely admit that I do not have the cleanest mouth, I am also aware that when I post I am not sure of who is reading it and out of common respect I will always keep it clean. I think that if everyone could remember that Moms, Dads, Grandmothers, Granfathers and most importantly kids are looking at what you are posting, maybe you could rephrase what you say to be a little more respectful but still get the point across...

You have all opened my eyes to other perspectives within this discussion. First let me say this post was not intended to say that our moderators and administrators arenâ€™t doing their job, in fact, I didnâ€™t even think about that. Only goes to show that they are hard at work behind the scenes doing a thankless job, hats off to them. This post was directed to the idea of how you say something as opposed to what you are saying, i.e., â€œThe difference of opinionâ€. Differences of opinion are important. Thatâ€™s how we learn about each other and ourselves. On more than one occasion people have made me aware of other ideas, other ways to look at something, especially on those heated posts which we have all been involved in for the most part. I do not want a mamsy pamsie forum, I want those heated debates. Carni said it best, â€œThe spirit of this thread is to make sure this site doesn't change.â€

Well here's my 2 cents - I've been on other sites but get bent is my home. this is a family site but we do have fun here. I've seen family members in trouble and getbenters come to the rescue.family crises and getbenters come to the rescue. I guess they do it on other sites, its i just don't visit them anymore.here is where I belong and here is where I'm goingf to stay.

Let me comment before this thread is closed and a new one is prepared addressing this issue/subject.

For those who do not know I am the founder and owner of Get Bent Sportfishing. Over the last year I have also taken on drangler as co-owner and we have been focusing our time on another project.

I mention this as if blame is needed it falls on my shoulders as I have not been as active here as I should be. This is in part due to my relocation to Florida and some personal issues.

We have 6 members who have Moderating privileges and only 3 are actively doing so. This too is probably due to a lack of direction on my part.

I would like to congratulate Joey for keeping this site going and keeping such close tabs on the happenings here.

As for the issue at hand.

First Bloody Decks is a fine site and has been very good to us here at Get Bent. They indeed draw a different type of folk and are more lax with their Policy but this has proved to be a very good thing for them as well.

We (Get Bent Sportfishing) are what WE make it. Ding-A-Ling makes a good point and does so because he cares about this site - I like that.

Our active members verses total members is actually better than internet message board averages.

FUTURE PLANS:

BBQ Jamborees with the attendance of drangler and myself
Hopefully our attendance at next years La Paz trip
Possibly a booth at the next Fred Hall Show - if we can arrange things in time
An on-line store with GB Swag on hand (yeah I know we are still lagging on the shirts - soon I promise)
Possibly Co-California Directors as drangler and I will need to dedicate our time to some new adventures and understand the need for a lead such as Joey has been filling and he will need help.

We indeed need to remember to respect one another and watch what we write.

i think this whole thread is pointless. This is the only site i bother to check anymore and its nowhere near becoming like the site you said.
Ding you need to chill out, a few of us that know each will always pop jokes on each other on here. Get over it

Yeah, hey strawberry and I really get along just find...we walk the walk and talk the talk but deep down we are just objective about certain things but we still like each other! And Get Bent is my "HOME!" Thanx Tim and Drangler for making this possibble!
