FINAL THOUGHTS
First this was a needed and good thread. If a member can not voice concern about the way the site is running or headed then we have lost something very special to us because
WE DO CARE.
For others to just write it off is not the way
WE or this site operates.
WE are growing and
WILL experience growing pains and occasional idiots that come by to cause trouble.
With comfort comes complacency. Meaning simply that as members become more comfortable both here on the site and with other members their posts tend to have or hint to inside jokes, stories etc. and / or they just become more lax with their wording. It is not always easy to get the
TRUE color of a post simply from the text alone, this is why we must re-read what we write before hitting that magical

NICHE. Yep, every web site, or successful web site needs their own niche. Get Bent has never really had one other than believing in the Brotherly Bond Of Fishing, being civil to one another and trying to stay somewhat focused on the subject at hand. Other sites, such as BD has a niche as well and it just happens that BD is most anything goes. Nothing wrong with that at all, not for some people. This thread was not started to knock them by any means but rather to question and look at ourself. For the record we like BD and appreciate the assistance they have offered to us in the past.
REMEMBER we all can still learn. Anglers who have been fishing their entire lives have learned valuable information from folks who went out on their very first fishing trip.
YES, it can and
DOES happen. I get a kick out of thing here as we have some members who are professional fishermen, meaning simply this is how they make their living, fishing competitively. Just because it says newbie under their user-name doesn't mean anything more than how many posts they have.
WE / Get Bent asks only simple things from its members. Be polite and courteous to one another, help others out, remember when we are out fishing we represent ALL fishermen so set a good example and higher standard for the others to follow.
THINGS HAVE CHANGED. That's right. They have and that is just a fact. It is partially due to the amount of members but not completely. We started this site and all were welcome with open arms and friendships, good friendships were made. Needed a favor, you just asked. I must say I was sorely disappointed a few months back when I put up a post asking for a West Coaster to offer up a trip for a guy from the East Coast who was working out in Los Angeles and spending all his weekends in his hotel room as he had
NO CLUE where to go or what to do.
NO ONE came through for him - definitely not the site of the past. Another was out during the unofficial BBQ, showed up and just felt awkward so he left, I must say his personality though is not one to walk up and say HI so who knows, but, the first one bothers me.

TRY to use the words
WE and
OURS inside of I, mine, etc., etc. as we indeed realize this is a
COMMUNITY site,
OUR site,
ALL OF OURS and it will only be
WHAT WE MAKE OF IT.

We have had a recent rash of folks who have come here to cause trouble, some are just jerks, others are from another site who wants to see us fail and cause us trouble and some are banned members who finally got re-registered and want to cause trouble in a way of seeking revenge. This
IS NOT the only folks who have been out of line though.
WE ALL do from time to time.
I am going to start a few new thread about how you met specific members -
PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO THESE THREADS.
This thread will now be closed. Time to move on, fish, take pictures and share the story and pictures with the rest of us.
