Please don't let a few jackass newbies cause you to lump us all into one category. If you want this site to grow, you need to welcome new members. I fish on a regular basis and I'm quite certain my reports will be a welcome addition to those who find the information helpful.
All that being said, I can understand your frustration, but keep in mind stupidity is never limited and is displayed by everyone from time to time.
Have a great week!

I think all of us welcome new members who are here to share reports and information, who fish regularly and share a passion for our sport. You and many other newer members certainly fall in to that category. Hell I'm sure a lot of the new members fish a lot more than I do.
That being said, I think that the frustration some people (including myself) are feeling is due to a larger problem. It is a problem borne of a lack of respect. Respect for other people as human beings, respect for other people's feelings and opinions is just not something that is taught anymore. Not at home and not in our schools. You can see it everywhere. Our "celebrities" gain their celebrity for being amoral, petty, vain and in a lot of cases simple criminals.
Members of this site whether they are new or not should take a few minutes and read the words in the links below. I think Tim, Joey, Drew and the rest of the mods are doing a fine job. The more members we get the harder it will be to supervise. I don't know that Get Bent needs to have 20,000 plus members like some of the other sites. It would be wise for all of us to strive to keep these goals and beliefs in mind. I would hope that simple decency and courteous behaviour would be the order of the day around here. There is absolutely nothing wrong with passionate arguments by those who disagree. Debate is very healthy, unfortunately a large portion of our society is unable to have an argument without becoming rude and ugly. Many don't have the skills to debate in a gentlemanly manner. I guess if you don't have any precision tools and all that is available to you is a 20 lb. doublejack, that is what you will use.

I think another problem is that it is very difficult at times to judge exactly where somebody is coming from in a typewritten post. Sometimes a remark that is meant as a joke comes a cross as bitter and sarcastic. When you talk with someone in person you can usually judge the tone of their speech better.
I don't want to come off as some sort of Polllyanna. Most on here don't know me well, but I'm sure that the guys I have fished with will tell you that, I drink plenty, cuss plenty, tell dirty jokes etc. and like to have a good time. Hell I used to be known to knock a few barstools over and bloody a few noses from time to time. Luckily I've just been fortunate to live long enough to understand my limitations and don't do that stuff anymore. There are plenty of young tough guys to leave that to!!
Let's get out there and fish. It will be winter soon enough and we will all be bored to death. Welcome to all the new members.
