May be it is because of health or divorce situation or maybe just seeing if there is any takers on the price they want. With a liqueur license if transferable to a land business it would be worth the money just in that right.

250 fishing days x 40 passengers x $75 = $750,000
Even with a 75% expense burden = $562,500
The profitability would be $187,500
Putting $100,000 / yr in the bank leaves you with $87,500.
$87,500 / yr could reasonably put you in the BLACK in 6 years.
NINO!!!! Go get it brother. You yellow slayer!

I know several boats that have sold in the Southern California, Texas and Seattle areas that took several months to sell at just 400,000, and the owners ended up taking mid to high 300,000's. For example the Explorer has been on the market for about a year, if not more, and has stayed at its price of 530,000. That boat is 60', and fully transferable business. Granted the hull was built in 70's, it was overhauled and completely re-done not to long ago. Just like the COROLOMA was, and many who have fished on the COROLOMA when i was deck on there will agree the boat did not seem over 3 decades old. Just saying, i mean houses are not even selling at 300 and 400K, when just a few years ago were selling at 500-600 simply. With the current economy, that boat is simply priced to high. Just my 2 pesos...

I'm pretty sure that the boat goes out more than 250 days a year and I'm pretty sure the rates are $55 (or somewhere around there). And I don't think the average load is anywhere near 40. 104 days of the year (Weekends) they may get around 40-50 anglers, but during the week, it's more like 7-20-average ~14. Also, if you have a total 75% expense ratio (including tax mind you) you'd be in one of the best industries out there, and if that was the case, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be selling the boat. I'd say profit margin is more around 10-15% (generous). Given that, you're looking more like 50-60K in profit (if that even is the case) on ~400K revenue. Also, you need to consider the interest you pay on the boat (amex blackcard, it's pretty damn expensive) and you're probably paying around $5K a year.
I think it's a long payback period to the $500k originally invested, but in terms of value, a little over 1x revenue seems to make sense.
